Eduaction: Gaylen Stewart Bio: The Ohio Arts Council has awarded him several professional grants and fellowships including two Individual Artist’s Fellowships, a Projects Grant and a Professional Development Award. He also received a grant awarded by Robert Rauschenberg and James Rosenquist. His art has been represented in over one hundred exhibitions, of which thirty-three have been solo shows, at museums, art centers and galleries, including: The Albuquerque Museum, NM; Arizona Museum for Youth; Herberger Theater Center Gallery, AZ; The Butler Institute of American Art, OH; The McDonough Museum of Art, OH; The Southern Ohio Museum; Cleveland Center for Contemporary Art, OH; Esther Allen Greer Museum, OH; Zanesville Art Center, OH; Mesa Contemporary Arts Center, AZ; Corvallis Arts Center, OR; Mariboe Gallery, NJ; Bauhaus Gallery, NC; Abney Gallery, NY; Huntington Museum of Art, WV; Parkersburg Arts Center, WV; Alexandria Museum of Art, LA; Western Colorado Center for the Arts; and the Bellevue Art Museum, WA. He traveled to Rome and Florence, Italy (for a two months study of painting and architecture); Athens, Greece and Romania. While in Romania he created an expansive mural for a Children’s Center in Cortnari. Several publications including: New American Paintings, Vol. 22. Open Studios, MA; Radix magazine, England; ARTYFACT, the Magazine of the Arts Centre Group, London, UK; and Dialogue, Arts in the Midwest have reviewed, published, and reproduced his artwork.
